Kayla-Jade Ripohau, 24, of Mitchell Street, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to possessing both crystal methamphetamine and weapons, careless driving and two counts of driving while suspended.
The offending breached a previously suspended three-month jail sentence.
Magistrate Michael Coghlan yesterday ordered Ripohau to serve three months in prison and fined her $500.
Police told the court that Ripohau lost her driver’s licence on demerit points for six months from May 8 this year. At 12.10am on May 25 police received a call about a car being driven erratically south on Clyde Road, Berwick.
Officers intercepted the Commodore and found Ripohau was driving three men around while her licence was suspended.
Ice was found in the car along with a baseball bat and a jemmy bar.
At 12.21pm the same day police received another call and officers intercepted Ripohau at the Shell service station in Colac.
Officers noted Ripohau’s car had recently been damaged and she said she lost concentration because she was exhausted and had hit a concrete barrier at Winchelsea while driving home along the Princes Highway.
Defence counsel Amanda Chambers said there were no exceptional circumstances which would allow Ripohau to avoid serving the suspended sentence and her client wanted to come out of jail with nothing hanging over her head.
Ripohau was also interviewed by Warrnambool police detectives yesterday in relation to a possessing the proceeds of crime investigation alleged to have happened on the same day as the other offences.
