Formed by songwriter Adrian Slattery, Big Smoke got its start as a regular fixture at Fitzroy's Birmingham Hotel, playing its own brand of country/folk rock'n'roll alongside The Smith Street Band, The Greasers, Jim Lawrie and many other local favourites.
Drawing comparisons to classic acts like Springsteen and The Band as well as contemporaries such as Dawes and The War On Drugs, Big Smoke has been winning over fans and critics with finely crafted, melody-laden songs and passionate live performances.
The band released its debut EP, River Queen, in April 2014, followed by single, Colours, in June. Both have garnered positive reviews from the local online press and solid support from community radio nationwide. Big Smoke is currently finishing up a second EP with plans to begin work on its debut album in late 2014.
