Keane is one of five Koroit players who will represent Victoria at the six-day tournament in Mount Gambier next week.
State debutant Brian Lenehan, Shane Cashill, Nicole Collins and Jacinta Marney will join him on the national stage.
They all play for Koroit, which will celebrate 100 years in October, in the Indoor Bowls Warrnambool (IBW) competition.
They are among 16 IBW players chosen to represent their state at nationals — the youngest of which is Dennington teenager Liam Keegan. Keane, a three-time state player, said Victoria was always a strong contender.
“We are pretty confident,” he said.
“We’ve only lost it once in the past 10 years.
“The outlook is to win the whole thing and not just individual medals.
“If you win individual medals that’s a bonus.”
Keane said preparation was important, admitting plenty of time had been spent on the carpet in the lead-up to the tournament.
“We try and play as much as we can in the lead up,” he said.
“There are not too many weekends in the last two months where you have a weekend off.”
Keane will compete in the men’s pairs, Lenehan in the men’s fours, Cashill in the mixed pairs and Collins and Marney in the women’s triples.
