The Office of Public Prosecutions successfully applied in the Warrnambool County Court for Robert Conn, 69, to be remanded in custody until September 30.
The Hopkins Hill homestead at Grauers Road, Allansford, burnt to the ground on the evening of May 26, 2012.
Solicitor Matt Senia said that Mr Conn was arrested on October 9, 2012, bailed on July 18 last year and attended a committal hearing on the arson charges in Warrnambool between February 3 and 5 this year. It was alleged Mr Conn committed further offences at the committal by communicating in the court with a co-accused, his former partner Roslyn Beevers, which allegedly breached an intervention order and his strict bail conditions.
Mr Senia said his client was arrested on March 25 with attempting to pervert the course of justice and remanded in custody. A $50,000 surety was withdrawn and Mr Conn applied for bail last week.
A committal hearing is scheduled in a Warrnambool court on September 24 and 25 on the charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice. The arson charge is expected to be raised in the county court on September 30 and a trial date may be set.
