Many of the cars on Mahoneys Road between Gillin Park retirement village and Deakin University are illegally parked opposite double lines.
Locals told The Standard they noticed an increase in vehicles left by the road since access to the university sports oval was closed during winter.
According to Warrnambool City Council’s local laws department parking along the double-lined section of road is illegal because there was insufficient space between the vehicles and the lines.
“There needs to be a three-metre clearance between the vehicle and double lines under Victorian road rules,” a spokesman said.
“Infringement tickets can be issued by local laws officers or police.”
