The two sides enter the final round of round-robin matches at Toowoomba today firmly in the hunt for a top-four finish in their respective grades.
The men, which feature Warrnambool District Hockey Association trio Cale Rout, Daniel Carlin and Matt Huf, are third after four matches.
They beat Western Australia (2-1) and the Australian Defence Force (2-1) but lost to unbeaten pair Queensland (3-0) and New South Wales (5-1).
The women, with WDHA representative Kirsty Rout in their ranks, are also third after posting one win, one draw and two losses.
The sole victory came against the ADF (3-1), the draw was with Western Australia (2-2) while the losses were to Queensland (3-2) and NSW (5-1).
Victoria takes on South Australia today, with semi-finals and positional play-offs tomorrow. The grand finals and third-placed play-offs are on Friday.
