THE last stage of the Portland wind farm is on track to finish this year, with signs it could be the last to go up in the region for some time.
Developer Pacific Hydro expects the 23-turbine wind farm to be finished by October.
General manager Australia Lane Crockett said it was the final stage of the company’s south-west projects that have included Yambuk, Codrington, Cape Bridgewater and Cape Nelson south.
“This is an important project for the Portland area and will provide positive benefits for the local community, including job opportunities and our continued commitment to invest in local community initiatives via our Sustainable Communities Fund,” Mr Crockett said.
“We are very pleased the project is moving along as planned.”
Construction of wind farms at Mortlake South and Hawkesdale has stalled over renewable energy target uncertainty.
