An elderly man was hit by a car and killed as he stood at the boot of his parked vehicle in Melbourne's south-east.

Investigators believe a couple were driving south on the Nepean Highway at Frankston when they pulled into a parking lane alongside the road on Thursday.
The pair got out and were standing near the boot of the car when another vehicle veered off the road and struck the man about 12.15pm, police said.
Paramedics attended and attempted to revive the man but he died at the scene. The woman was uninjured.
The male driver of the car, a white Ford station wagon, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation.
Major Collision Investigation Unit officers are appealing for witnesses.
