PORTLAND police captured a burglar in the act early on Saturday morning.

A Portland man, aged in his mid-20s, broke into the Portland RSl just after 6am.

Police arrived shortly later and found him still inside the premises.

The offender was arrested and interviewed afterwards before being charged with burglary and bailed to appear in court next month.

Meanwhile in Warrnambool, police have asked the public for information after a glass bottle was thrown through a parked car's window.

The bottle smashed the back window of a car in the driveway of a Baileyana Drive address, early on Saturday morning or late on Friday.
