The Local Giving program, which is run in Good Guys stores nationally, donates a percentage of every sale to local groups, with customers encouraged to have a say in where the funding is distributed.
Warrnambool and District Foodshare is just one of the organisations that benefits from the program. Its executive officer Dedy Friebe said support from local customers was key.
“Our programs and services, rely greatly on donations from the community,” he said.
“Our partnership with the Goods Guys has connected us with the community to help raise awareness of what we do and helps in raising much-needed funds. You can’t put a dollar amount on the positive impact and benefits the our programs funded with donations have on the lives of individuals and families within our community.”
He said demand for help had increased dramatically as winter set in.
