Five cases including one civil and four criminal matters all arising from decisions in Warrnambool and Geelong’s County Court will be listed before Justices Mark Weinberg, Simon Whelan and David Beach.
Tomorrow Peter John Gale will appeal a four-and-a-half-year sentence issued last year over charges of stalking, aggravated burglary and threatening serious injury.
Eammon Francis Leddin, who was convicted of culpable driving in January this year over the death of a cyclist in Warrnambool, will appeal his four-year and three-month prison sentence.
Two other matters will also be heard on Wednesday relating to sex offences and children.
The court sat for the first time yesterday on the civil appeal involving a dispute under the Accident Compensation Act.
Justice Mark Weinberg said the court was returning to Warrnambool after a lengthy break.
“2009 were the last sittings in Warrnambool by the Court of Appeal,” Justice Weinberg said.
“We’re here for three days.”
Justice Weinberg said it was important for the court to go on regional circuits to show the community how decisions were reached.
