Kurtis, a member of Neangar Park Golf Club, shot a two-over round of 74 yesterday to take a one-shot lead into today’s tournament finale.
Benalla pair Dale Crothers (75) and Broden Dean (78) are within striking distance.
In the girls’ section, two-time defending champion Tahlia Holmberg has a two-shot advantage after signing for a round of 84.
Tahlia, a Neangar Park golfer also from Bendigo, is chasing a third consecutive title after impressive victories in 2012 and 2013.
Warrnambool’s Joanna Flaherty, also a member at Port Fairy, was second after firing 86, with Box Hill’s Mara Kyranakis third after an 87.
Clifton Springs’ James Daglas shot 82 to have a three-shot lead in the boys’ under 15 section and is also the overall handicap leader.
Warrnambool Golf Club manager Trevor Brown said heavy rain on Sunday had not influenced the scores yesterday.
“After a large amount of rain yesterday in Warrnambool the course has come up fairly well,” he said.
“There’s very little casual water so we’re quite pleased with it. Although it’s heavy underfoot it’s still looking quite good.”
