WARRNAMBOOL art group F Project will launch its new film society arm with a double feature on Friday night.
From 7pm, the art collective will screen the documentary Bill Cunningham New York and the award-winning Finnish-French film Le Havre.
The film society is planning to show movies on a monthly basis. They will cover a variety of classic, modern, arthouse and local films, as well as popular favourites.
A range of projectors secured by F Project — including 8mm, super 8 and 16mm — means it has the potential to show historical footage of Warrnambool.
Bill Cunningham New York details the career of photographer Bill Cunningham, who has spent much of his 83 years documenting the fashions and people of New York.
Le Havre has received rave reviews from critics around the world and won awards at the Cannes Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival.
It tells the story of a friendship between an elderly Frenchman and a young African asylum seeker.
The movies will be screened at F Spot, which is located upstairs at the corner of Koroit and Liebig streets.
