More than 50 people attended the auction at the Simpson Football Club rooms with a vendor’s opening bid lodged at $4500 an acre.
Brian O’Halloran agent John Nunn said no further bids were registered with the property now available for private sale at $4800 an acre. “There are three or four parties that we’re currently in negotiations with, most of them you would consider local property owners,” Mr Nunn said.
“Simpson is prime dairy country and the land on this property is of high quality with proper drainage.”
The 166-hectare (410-acre) Barleydew property is located on Princetown Road and includes a four-bedroom homestead.
