The six-month-old koala hasn’t strayed far from her mother, Kambala, and has been melting hearts ahead of the upcoming school holiday break.
But the cuddly youngster is still without a name, with wildlife rangers announcing on Thursday a competition to name the baby.
Held throughout the school holidays, all entries will go into a draw and one winner will receive a 10-minute ‘‘speed date’’ with mother and baby.
Wildlife park general manager Tassin Barnard said the koala population was currently under great threat due to urbanisation and massive, uncontrolled habitat destruction.
‘‘The birth of any koala is significant to the ongoing efforts to protect the breed for future generations,’’ she said.
The koala encounter will be held at the Calga wildlife park every day at 12pm and 2.45pm.
