A WARRNAMBOOL woman suffered a stab wound to the chest last night after an alleged incident involving her former partner.
Senior Sergeant Shane Keogh, of Warrnambool police, said the 26-year-old woman allegedly returned to a Wanstead Street home after the couple had split up and there was an incident.
He said it was alleged that a 23-year-old man stabbed his former partner about 9.30pm.
"The woman suffered a wound to the chest and was taken to the Warrnambool Base Hospital for treatment. The injury was assessed as not life-threatening," Senior Sergeant Keogh said.
The man was arrested, interviewed and held in custody overnight. He is understood to still be assisting Warrnambool crime investigation unit police detectives with their inquiries this morning.
