The 32nd running of the event will raise money to help the club continue its valued community work.
Art show organiser Chris Thompson said the exhibition, which will take over the Koroit Theatre, usually drew a big crowd and was one of the major fund-raisers of the year for the Lions club.
“All the art is for sale and the money raised comes from taking a commission on the works we sell,” he said. “There have been some big sales in the past. I think going back about four years ago we had one sell for $1200.”
Thompson said the show attracted artists from as far afield as the Ballarat and Geelong districts, with some contributing artwork every year. “It’s always been about showcasing local artists,” he said.
Aside from the opportunity to sell and display their work, artists will also vie for the people’s choice award and a judge’s prize.
The Koroit Lions Club Art Show is open to the public from 10am until 4pm today and tomorrow and 10am until 2pm on Monday.
