Tigers coach Jake Myles and the club are far from impressed with his decision to quit Sturt and then join the Seagulls.
“The Portland football club has bent over backwards for Jaydon,” Myles said.
“Portland have supported him through juniors, through the Rebels system and we got him a job when he came back to Portland last year.”
Myles questioned the guidance Stiles had received after turning his back on an opportunity with SANFL club Sturt. He played with Portland three weeks ago before exploring other options.
“As far as I was concerned the situation was untenable,” Myles said.
“After playing with your home club that has supported him and given him opportunities to play football when he wasn’t selected to play reserves with Sturt, to then approach other clubs in the Hampden league mid-way through the season and train with a rival club was untenable.
“How can you go out and play with someone after that?” Myles said he had helped clear a path for Stiles to join Sturt in the off-season.
“Like all football clubs, we try to help and support all players and open doors to give them opportunities,” Myles said.
“They need to walk through the doors when opened. I’m really disappointed. He’s got ability.
“I’m not going to hold back a player who wants to try to go to a higher level.
“He’s gone to Adelaide and it’s got a bit tough and he’s pulled the pin.
