Detectives carried out a search yesterday morning at a Colac residence, arresting a 39-year-old on 31 charges.
Police allege the man committed 14 brazen daylight burglaries over two months, specifically targeting elderly residents’ homes and cars.
“They’ve been brazen burglaries ... a lot of the items stolen were of irreplaceable and sentimental value,” Detective Senior Constable Chris Potter said.
“There were some war medals dating back to the First World War ... and jewellery belonging to deceased loved ones.” A large number of items were found at the accused’s address during the police search at 7.30am.
The man is due to appear in the Geelong Magistrates Court.
