Witnesses described seeing huge flames coming from the shed along Illowa Road just after 5.30pm on Wednesday.
A CFA media spokesman said the fire was threatening a nearby house.
The shed is believed to have contained gas bottles.
Thirteen CFA units from Warrnambool, Koroit, Kirkstall, Grassmere, Woodford, Winslow, Woolsthorpe and Toolong responded to the blaze. The Hazmat vehicle from Warrnambool was also called to the scene.
The fire was on a property about 500 metres from the intersection of the Princes Highway at Illowa.
A large pall of smoke was visible from Warrnambool and people at the scene said there was a strong odour from fumes.
