Heavy rain floods Hamilton roads

HAMILTON Police have asked motorists to be vigilant on the region's roads as heavy rain causes flash flooding.

Some of the worst sites include:

-The Henty Highway, near the Mooralla Golf Course;

 -Dartmoor Hamilton Road, on the Digby side Cramer Road;

-King Street near Hammond Street;

-Mt Napier Road, between the Department of Primary Industries and the go-kart track; and

-Grey Street and Hensley Park Road, near Lake Hamilton.

Police say other roads may be affected and are urging motorists to take care, and drive to the conditions.

The wet conditions are caused by a deep low pressure system that is making its way across the state.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the worst of the wet weather is crossing the region now, and rain is expected to ease tonight, leaving fine conditions for tomorrow and Sunday.

Up to 40 millimetres have been dumped on the region since 9am Thursday.
