The Warrnambool City Council opened a pop-up shop in the former ANZ bank this week seeking feedback from the public about how to revive the strip of Liebig Street between Raglan Parade and Koroit Street. 

Manager of city renewal Tanya Egan said there had already been a steady stream of people through the doors offering a broad range of ideas about how to give the once-vibrant and thriving strip a spruce-up. 

“It’s been a wonderful response. We have had quite  a few people come in and offer ideas and register for the two workshops we will be running next week,” Ms Egan said. 

“One of the early suggestions seems to centre around the unevenness of the footpaths and disabled access. 

“Another big issue is trees. Everyone agrees they are needed, but the sticking point seems to be what sort of trees we should use.” 

Ms Egan said the Warrnambool City Youth Council had been in to share its ideas, which included free wi-fi, more open-air markets and better use of laneways. 

She said two public workshops on Tuesday would help the design firm come up with concept plans. The plans will be presented on Wednesday and further community feedback will be sought. 

The pop-up shop operates between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
