Leishman carded a five-under 67 yesterday around the tough TPC Sawgrass layout at Ponte Vedra Beach to scoot up the leaderboard.
He climbed 29 spots to finish in a tie for 23rd at five under, eight shots behind winner, German Martin Kaymer.
It was Leishman’s best result in eight starts on tour since he finished in a tie for second at the Farmers Insurance Open on January 26. After two top-five finishes in his first two tournaments this year on the tour, Leishman missed the halfway cut in his two previous events before yesterday’s impressive final round that helped him pick up $96,000 in prizemoney and crucial points in the Fed Ex Cup race.
He went out in even par yesterday before making five birdies in his final eight holes. He closed his round by draining an 18-foot birdie putt on the last.
