Tens of thousands of animal lovers and their four-legged friends throughout Australia will take part in the walk to raise money for animals in need. Allansford’s Casey Owen is a long-time supporter of the Million Paws Walk.
Miss Owen has recently returned from Queensland and will be walking next Sunday.
“I have been every year,” she said.
“I went to the one on the Gold Coast last year and there was thousands and thousands of people. It was a great day out.”
Miss Owen will lead her three-year-old kelpie-shpherd cross Jessie and her grandmother’s Japanese spitz Ziggy.
“I go along because it’s a great day out with friends,” she said.
“I got Jessie because he’s a shelter dog and it’s always good to help.”
In Warrnambool, the walk will start next Sunday at the carnival ground near the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club on Pertobe Road and extend for about five kilometres along the promenade to the Warrnambool breakwater and back.
Registrations open at 9am and the walk starts at 10am. Animal lovers can register before the event by going online to at www.millionpawswalk.com.au
