Warrnambool policeman Sergeant Callum McKinnon said police were notified about the accident at 3.20am.
“The 24-year-old man was driving a Nissan ute along Princetown Road, Simpson, near the intersection with Gallum Road, when he lost control on a corner and collided with trees,” Sergeant McKinnon said.
“The vehicle received substantial front-end damage. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and knocked on the door of a nearby house for help.”
