The Terang and District Progress Association has received $14,452 to restore the town’s memorial while Corangamite Shire has won $4400 to fix the Cobden cenotaph.
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Damian Drum said the first round of grants for 2014 would provide support for 13 Victorian communities to restore local war memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour to their original condition.
“Our war memorials play a vital role in acknowledging the service and sacrifice of our veterans, and in keeping their stories alive for communities and future generations,” he said.
