Police received a report of hoon driving at 10.05pm Wednesday and found a flattened give-way sign in the middle of Garden Street, and the bumper bar.
Inquiries are being made with the owner of the vehicle.
Portland police are also seeking information from the public after four youths are believed to have damaged a boat and stole fishing gear on Wednesday afternoon at Fisherman’s Wharf.
The youths were seen on the wharf between 5.30pm and 6pm.
The owner of the boat discovered a door on his vessel had been kicked in and fishing gear valued at $150, including a rod, reel and tackle, had been removed.
Portland police also charged a 53-year-old man on Wednesday with breaching the conditions of the sex offenders’ register after failing to notify police that he had changed his address.
The man will appear in the Portland Magistrates Court next Tuesday.
