The east-west conduit into expanding residential neighbourhoods was given a major upgrade and bitumen seal on the 1.3-kilometre stretch between Station Street and Rooneys Road with federal government and city council funds.
“Creation of new neighbourhoods will help ease pressure on land and house prices which in the past few years have been higher than those in other regional Victorian centres,” Cr Neoh said.
Mr Tehan congratulated the council on using federal funds to create a first-class road.
“Roads are very important for communities right across Wannon and I look forward to producing more funds to go into this area,” he said.
The project was tied to the $1.5m housing affordability scheme where low-income applicants were entitled to grants of up to $20,000 to build their first home in the north Dennington area.
