May races bus boost

FREE city-loop buses and extra V/Line services will make getting to and from the track during next week’s TAB May Racing Carnival easy for punters.

Buses will loop the city on three routes throughout the three-day carnival, stopping at accommodation providers, and an extra return train service will run on Thursday.

The extra train will leave Melbourne at 6.26am, stopping at Geelong at 7.33am and continuing express to Warrnambool, arriving at 9.50am.

The return service departs Warrnambool at 6.15pm, arriving in Geelong at 8.35pm and Melbourne at 9.38pm.

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) chief executive officer Janet Dore said extra police would patrol roads in a crackdown on drink-driving.

She said TAC breath-testing teams would be set up at the exits of the racecourse to help racegoers avoid driving while over the limit, and provide free breath tests, tea, coffee and water.
