The final tally for February’s events means Peter’s Project will receive $7500 and the Portland branch of the Make a Wish foundation the same amount.
Organiser Liam Fitzgerald said the cricket game on February 23 and a goods and services auction the night before were well supported.
“We are really happy with how it’s all turned out and thrilled with the final result,” he said.
“Last year we raised $10,000 so to get over that is fantastic.
“The goods and services auction raised eight and nine thousand alone.” Warrnambool mayor Michael Neoh, federal member for Wannon Dan Tehan and Grassmere stalwarts Kevin White and John McDonald took to the pitch with players from the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association and the Grassmere Cricket Association.
Mr Fitzgerald said he was hopefully the game would become an annual event.
“We have a great and passionate committee and there is great support for it, so hopefully it can become an annual event,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
