The council’s exhibit was judged the best of the 48 exhibits by regional Victorian councils at the weekend expo, which encouraged people to consider living, working or investing outside the Melbourne metropolitan area and drew more than 10,000 people.
Moyne Shire’s corporate business manager Mitchell Rowe, who was one of five council staff who worked at the Moyne exhibition during the three days, said it was very popular with the crowd.
Mr Rowe said the judges were impressed by Moyne’s distribution of a four-page liftout promoting the shire in a recent edition of the Moyne Gazette.
The council also distributed copies of Live Work Invest magazine, published by The Standard, highlighting the benefits of the Great South Coast Group of councils — a collaborative approach that also won favour with the judges.
They also liked that Moyne Shire, one of the smaller councils in the Great South Coast Group, had “stepped up to the plate” and held its own against the bigger councils.
Other Moyne Shire employees who staffed the award-winning stand at the expo were Elise Ploenges, Emma Riddington, Dianne McNamara and Dean Robertson.
