Senior Constable Stephanie Rogers said that at 1.45pm on Saturday she was driving east on the Princes Highway on the eastern outskirts of Camperdown when she noticed a black Ford sedan heading towards town.
She said the car was travelling at an extremely fast speed, which she measured on radar at 168km/h.
“He was coming up the hill towards Camperdown while I was coming over the hill. You could tell he was moving quick,” she said.
“The driver, a 24-year-old man from Cooriemungle, was intercepted in Camperdown.
“He will be charged on summons with driving at a dangerous speed and exceeding 145km/h and appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on a date to fixed.”
Senior Constable Rogers said the car was impounded on the spot for 30 days and would attract impoundment fees in excess of $1200.
“With wet weather fast approaching it’s timely to remind all drivers to drive to the road rules and the road conditions.”
