What it needs is gardeners.
After inheriting a few more lawns and garden beds at the likes of the new Rotary House, South West Healthcare has put a call out for volunteer gardeners to keep them all in good health.
“There’s a fair few small gardens around the hospital and it’s very difficult for our gardener to keep up with, as well as everything else she does,” volunteer co-ordinator Maria Thornton said.
“We need volunteers to come in and do some very basic weeding and watering — just to keep on top of it and maintained.
“It won’t be a very arduous task. It’s really just maintaining.”
Around 140 volunteers work at the hospital with 40 in palliative care alone.
“We just want somebody who has some time to give us.”
Anyone with an interest can contact Ms Thornton on 5563 1459.
