The city’s law enforcement officers are desperate to reclaim bragging rights after being beaten last year.
Leading Senior Constable Reg Evans said while his side would likely include some “secret weapons”, the match was about more than satisfying competitive instincts.
“It’s a great community day,” he said.
“It’s part of bridging the gap between the communities. Everyone is happy and it shows that interaction doesn’t have be adversarial.”
Leading Senior Constable Evans said a kids’ jumping castle and barbecue were part of the day’s activities.
He said the best player award would be named in honour of long-time umpire Robert Campbell, who died recently. Mr Campbell had umpired in each of the previous 10 matches.
Sunday’s Twenty20 match starts at 10.30am and runs until about 2pm at Warrnambool’s Allan Oval.
