Mr Barclay joined more than 150,000 people between March 13-16 who were sponsored to shave or colour their hair to support Australians with blood cancer and fund research.
Staff members at the council emptied their pockets to see Mr Barclay lose his shoulder-length locks at the council’s first charity day for 2014.
Glenelg mayor John Northcott said the World’s Greatest Shave was not just about the money raised, it was about the publicity and awareness raised for blood cancer and cancers in general.
“The great thing was that council staff took time out of their lunch hour to support Damon in his effort,” he said.
