A MAN died after a workplace accident in a pine plantation at Myamyn, north of Heywood, yesterday afternoon.
The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, became trapped in machinery at the plantation just before 4pm.
A police media spokeswoman said the man had already died when police arrived.
“Police were called just before 4pm,” she said.
“The man had become trapped in machinery in the pine plantation and died as a result of his injuries.
“He was not from the local area. Police will notify his next of kin and are preparing a report for the coroner.”
Branxholme and Hamilton police attended the accident and WorkSafe has been informed.
