Mass response smothers grassfire

FOURTEEN CFA units and four aircraft were used to smother a fast-moving grassfire that broke out yesterday at Branxholme, south-west of Hamilton.

The CFA said the fire was reported in an open paddock shortly before 5pm yesterday with strong winds pushing it quickly eastwards towards Branxholme.

However, the mass response had the fire controlled shortly before 6.30pm.
