GALLERY: Terang tunes in to country sounds

TERANG was filled with country tunes over the weekend as 1500 people enjoyed a wide range of artists at the racecourse.

Chairman of the Terang Country Music Festival Ray Worland said this year’s event was the biggest ever.

“The whole festival was the biggest and best we have ever had,” he said.

The huge line-up for the event included Johanna Hemara, Royden Donahue, The Sherrahs, Tim Farren, Abby Pool, Camille & Stuie, Marie Hodson, Leah Briggs, Brian Letton, and Daniel Thompson.

“There was a good mix of young talent and older experienced musicians,” Mr Worland said.

“The poets’ breakfast on Saturday morning also worked really well.

“We had a full lounge under the grandstand. It was a real hit.”

The night peaked with a hoedown, featuring a tribute to country legend Johnny Cash

“The Johnny Cash tribute show was amazing. Everyone loved it,” Mr Worland said.

He also said the cowboy and cowgirl dress-up competition for children was also popular.

More than 100 people enjoyed free camping and the event wrapped up yesterday morning with a breakfast.

Plans are already under way for next year’s event and Mr Worland said the committee had a few ideas to improve the festival.
