The owners of the popular Timor Street night spot hope to build a first storey courtyard that would allow for an extra 70 patrons.
An extra bar, elevator and storage areas will be added to the rear of the club, according to blueprints.
All alterations and extensions will be done within the building’s existing footprint.
Gallery owner Daryl Porter said he hoped to install a “cosmopolitan-style” courtyard with two facade walls facing the street and partial roof cover.
“It’s just expanded floor space so people can go outside and have a cigarette. We’re going for that Melbourne feel,” Mr Porter said.
“It’s an open lounge area where people can go and chill out.”
He said high-volume dance floor music wouldn’t be played in the new section. Public submissions on the plans close on Tuesday, March 18.
