The 66-year-old businessman was left badly shaken after he was bashed and robbed in a brazen attack about 9.30pm.
A police spokesman said they were particularly keen to speak to anyone who heard the victim yelling out about that time.
“We’re calling on residents who live on Morriss Road or the surrounding streets, particularly between Ross Street and Woodend Road,” he said.
“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who might have found items dropped in their front yards.
“Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Detective Senior Constable Jason Bourke at the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit.”
The victim was standing in the front yard of his Morriss Road home when he was approached from behind by two offenders, who bashed him to the head and stole a bag containing cash.
