The acclaimed Australian film I Am A Girl is being hosted by Women’s Health And Wellbeing Barwon South-West as part of International Women’s Day.
Research and policy health promotion officer Emma Mahony said the film followed the lives of six girls on the brink of womanhood as they dealt with the realities of what it meant to grow up as a female.
“It recognises the important role women have in modern society, but also the challenges and obstacles that they face in being afforded equal opportunity,” Ms Mahony said.
I Am A Girl has been described as inspirational and heart-warming. It is the first time the women’s health and wellbeing group has hosted a film screening.
It will show at the Capitol Cinema at 7pm tomorrow, starting with a light supper at 6.30pm.
