Organiser Liam Fitzgerald said $10,000 was raised last year through the charity cricket match with proceeds going to Peter’s Project and the Make A Wish foundation.
“This is the first time we’re having the gala night as well so we’re hoping to go one better,” he said.
“We’re hoping for a really fun night. We’ve had an enormous response from businesses.
“We’d like to see as many as we can there. We’re hoping to raise double.
“Last year exceeded our expectations. We got such a good crowd.”
Mr Fitzgerald said Warrnambool mayor Mike Neoh, federal member for Wannon Dan Tehan and Grassmere stalwarts Kevin White and John McDonald would take to the pitch with players from the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association and the Grassmere Cricket Association.
“It’s a lighthearted game,” he said.
“It’s a good opportunity for people to go and have a laugh.”
There will also be a showcase match by clients from Warrnambool and District Employment Access.
The cricket match, on Sunday, February 23, will begin at 11am at the Dennington Recreation Reserve and entry is by way of a gold coin donation.
The gala night will be held on Saturday, February 22 and feature live music from The Music Men.
Mr Fitzgerald said there would be a goods and services auction and it would be a good night for families.
The gala night will be held at the Lady Bay Function Room from 7.30pm and tickets cost $30 pre sold or $35 at the door.
