Forecast wind change brings fears of Stonyford flare-up

THERE are fears a wind change forecast to sweep through the south-west overnight could cause the Stonyford fire to flare-up.

The latest advice message form the Country Fire Authority says a wind change is expected between 5am and 10am Sunday morning.

The CFA say while there is currently no threat to communities, residents in Bungador, Carpendeit, Koallah, South Purrumbete, Tandarook, Tandarook South and Tesbury should stay alert and monitor conditions.

A Total Fire Ban remains in force until midnight Sunday night.

The fire, which started on Wednesday afternoon, has burnt 450 hectares in rocky terrain.

It is listed as contained, but CFA crews are still working in the area.

Scoullers Road and Ansons Road remain closed to traffic and speed restrictions are in place along the Cobden-Stonyford Road.
