WARRNAMBOOL police will prepare a report for the Victorian Coroner after a Melbourne woman fell to her death at Thunder Point yesterday.
It’s believed the 56-year-old Melbourne woman was alone when she slipped and fell 30 metres shortly before noon yesterday.
Paramedics performed CPR on the woman but she died at the scene.
Warrnambool police are yet to confirm the woman’s identity.
Police, paramedics, CFA and SES were called to Thunder Point at 11.40am.
Paramedics worked on the rocks where the woman fell before she was winched up by an ambulance helicopter and taken to Thunder Point car park.
Police were investigating the cause of the fall late yesterday afternoon with SES crews using harnesses to pull other emergency service people from the rocks.
Acting senior sergeant Tania Barbary said emergency crews had worked well together under extremely difficult circumstances.
“It’s a difficult job at the best of times,” she said yesterday.
“It’s a great example of emergency services working together and the relationship we have here.
“Especially under these circumstances.
“We really had a large turn out of SES, CFA and paramedics.”
Thunder Point Road was blocked off while emergency services attended the scene.
Police are working today to prepare a report for the coroner.
