Sunset On The Green, at Warrnambool’s Civic Green on Saturday, was organised by the Warrnambool Youth Council and featured 11 acts.
“It was fantastic — it met all of the (criteria) that the youth council wanted it to be,” Warrnambool City Council youth development planner Katie McKean said.
“It was a nice, casual afternoon where people could come and go as they pleased and enjoy the music and have lunch or dinner.”
Ms McKean said the event raised money via a barbecue and some tin-rattling, with some of the acts also donating part or all of their gig payments.
Bands on the day included Michelle’s Velocity, The Alfa Tides and Bonney Ranch, and Ms McKean said there were also a few younger acts that hadn’t been seen by a wider audience before yesterday.
She said a lot of families stopped by the Civic Green and had enjoyed the day.
“The group was already discussing next year’s plans as they were packing up,” Ms McKean said.
“A number of youth councillors will be around for another couple of years so they’ve taken it on as something they want to do again.”
