Woman dies after Thunder Point cliff fall

A WOMAN has died after falling approximately 30 metres at Thunder Point in Warrnambool.

The incident occurred around 11.40am. It is understood the woman, who was believed to be in her early 50s, slipped from the top of the cliff.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the fall was about 30 metres and occurred near where a humpback whale washed up recently.

It is unknown whether the woman was a local or from out of town, but her injuries were initially described as life-threatening.

SES, CFA, police and paramedics were in attendance, with emergency services crews moving down the cliff to the woman. They attempted CPR and the rescue helicopter winched her from the rocks, however it is believed the woman died at the scene.
