This year the club is giving it another go.
On Sunday the club will open up for visitors to give their rolling arm a test on the bowling green.
“I’m really surprised at the array of people that we get. Last year it was packed,” Mr Dowd said.
“Because of all the holidaymakers we figured that the best place is on Pertobe Road and it’s a visual spot.”
The effort is being made to promote Relay for Life.
Although the relay event itself isn’t on until February, the club member and organiser said it was hoped the family day would capture the attention of beachgoers and get the event on the radar for locals.
“When you look at the bigger picture a lot of people don’t know what happens out at Deakin University with the Relay for Life event,” Mr Dowd said.
The day kicks off at 1.30pm this Sunday with bowls, prizes and other competitions.
