Visitors to the first Experience Deakin event at Warrnambool’s Civic Green from 10am to 2pm can learn about the university and take a free bus to tour the city’s campus.
One of the fun day features was trialled this week, as the public had its first look at a self-powered blender bike.
Deakin administration assistant Amy Armstrong said visitors would be able to make their own smoothies on the inventive bicycle.
“Everything is all ready to go,” she said.
“Normally Deakin’s open day is in August when it’s not very busy in Warrnambool and there’s not as many as there could be on campus.
“Preferences go out the day before this so because it’s at a different time it relates to the difference in what students will be thinking about Deakin.
“We want to catch the busy time when lots of holidaymakers are here, just to show everyone what Deakin has to offer.”
Mrs Armstrong said the miniature open day would be a fun and family-friendly event.
