Politics in Spring Street may be a little more friendly than the United States capital but Premier Denis Napthine has heeded the former president’s advice.
The South West Coast MP celebrated Christmas with a new pet pooch following the death of the Napthine family’s beloved whippet Brandy earlier this year.
Portland retiree Bev Palmer gave Dr Napthine and his wife Peggy her pet whippet Liam after deciding she couldn’t look after the dog any more.
“Mrs Palmer’s call came at the right time because we were both missing not having the companionship of our dog and were considering looking for a new four-legged friend,” Dr Napthine said.
“Liam has fitted in extremely well to our home. He is good friends with the cats and is enjoying plenty of rest and relaxation around the house and daily walks to the beach.
“He enjoys sitting at my feet while I read the paper where I am sure he will be spending plenty of time this festive season.”
