OUTDOOR gym equipment will be installed at parks in Portland and Merino in a program that aims to encourage people to adopt a healthier and active lifestyle.
The gym equipment will be available at no cost to the public and will also be used to deliver free, open-air fitness classes during the summer months.
Glenelg Shire Council is providing the Fitness in the Park program, funded by a Department of Health initiative to tackle obesity.
The equipment and sites were chosen after a series of community meetings and phone surveys.
Mayor John Northcott said having outdoor exercise equipment that was accessible to everyone helped promote good health.
